Pray the Blessed Michael McGivney Novena March 20-28

Knights, their families and others are encouraged to pray the Blessed Michael McGivney Novena from March 20 until March 28, concluding the day before the 139th anniversary of the founding of the Knights of Columbus. The novena includes daily reflections about the life and priestly virtues of the Order’s founder, Father Michael J. McGivney. Each day includes petitions invoking his intercession and concludes with the prayer for his canonization. Daily recorded videos of the novena will be posted on the Knights’ official Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube accounts and can also be accessed on the Father Michael J. McGivney Guild website.

District 30 Fund Raiser

On Jan. 19, the 5 councils of District 30 joined together in a fund raiser to support a local Pregnancy Resource Center and to also begin raising money to purchase an Ultrasound machine. We had 4 speakers: Paul Gloekler, the Florida State council Pro-Life Event Director; Linda Evans the director of the Pregnancy Resource Center in Melbourne; District Deputy Doug Blair, and District Warden Bob Burgess. The event was hosted by Fr. Martin Power Council at Ascension Catholic School Cafetorium. The food was great and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Star Council

At our council business meeting Dec. 4,  the Worthy District Deputy Doug Blair and his Worthy Warden Bob Burgess presented Past Grand Knight Mark Stephenson the Star Council Award for council year 2017-2018.  Star Council is always a prestigious award and one the council should be proud of.  This is our 2nd year in a row receiving such an honor.

Pumpkin Patch

Our 4th Annual Pumpkin Patch turned out to be our best ever.  We received 2,657 pumpins.  After two weeks of selling we sold a total of $15,057 dollars worth of pumpkins.  The council realized @ $5,000 as a result. The Hayride was a huge attraction as well as the photo op we provided.  Thanks to all the brother Knights who volunteered time and talent to make this event the success it was.

Life Chain

Council members Steve Kremer, Steve Drake, Mark Stephenson, Tom Duffy, and Larry Davis represented OLOG council 13243 at the 2018 Life Chain.  We were accompanied by Chris ( Ed Schmitt’s daughter) and Kayte Campbell from OLOG parish.

Tootsie Roll Drive

Tootsie Roll Drive outside the Wal-Mart on Malabar Rd was a big success.   Collected over $1200 for the Intellectually handicapped.  Thanks to all who spent time distributing tootsie rolls and collecting donations.  Special thanks to Ron Gento our campaign chairknight.
