Mark Stephenson and I ( Larry Davis) attended the 114th Annual State Convention held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Orlando. We enjoyed spending time with brother Knights from around the state and in our District. The State Banquet was one of the highlights of the weekend. Another highlight was the Mass on Sunday morning. The Mass was conducted by a Bishop and our State Chaplain, and was an Eastern Rite Mass celebration. Many different things about the Mass and especially receiving Holy Communion. You did not receive Communion in your hand, nor were you allowed to stick your tongue to receive. Communion was in both forms, bread and wine, but the communion bread was in a chalice full of wine. The ministers placed the wine soaked bread in your mouth using a gold spoon. And you were not allowed to say “Amen” after receiving communion. Many other interesting things were so different from the Mass we are used to. Plus Mass lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes.
